Do the Dominator GTs still work well even with Sandy?

All depends on the IMC.

lets say on a MIV board

Yeah, I was even using a tri-channel kit from my X58 platform: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145269 (ok I guess you don't call it tri if you take of the modules away as SB is dual heh).

I was able to OC it to 2133mhz without any problems, although the timings weren't the best, but that's still good enough

Bottom line is that, they'll work just fine if you got some around, but I'd recommend the Ripjaws X instead since I've had better OCing experiences with their ones instead - using some right now.

You keep mentioning the dominator gt's. I assume you are talking about some of the older gt's that use hyper ic's? The new or current model gt's are like binned PSC, not the hypers that are now EOL.

If you insist on hypers, the MIV is one of the boards that can run them well. But even then, results may vary XC has the MIV and some mushkin hypers. He can't run them on the 2133 strap but the 1866 strap runs fine. The same ram on an x58 would run much faster. My hypers are terrible on my P8P67 and can't run anything other than the 1600 strap, although i can run them at 6-6-6 around 1750-1800.

If I were to buy some ram, I'd look into some ripjaw-x. Fortunately, my brother has some mushkin with PSC ic's and they get the job done. They're rated 7-8-7-20 1600, but I run them 8-10-8-24 2250.

I'm talking about the new GTs as the old ones are very hard to find
