[IBT] Hoverbike Invented in Australia Can Go 175 Mile per Hour - Page 8

Looks cool, might work cool, but's not efficient at all.

Not Auto rotation capable so if the engine fails you better be wearing a parachute at any deployable height.

I can really only see this being used as a base design for a specialized Racing application, if it works in practice. Though I have no idea how any type of stabilization would be achieved.

I studied flight models in the US Air Force, and this thing scares me to death. Excites me from the inventiveness / coolness of the look. but then reality rears it's head.

And the black color... Matches the color a wife would wear to the funeral of the test pilot...

I honestly think the best use for this is the next Batman movie.

There is some real potential here for a dangerous toy for rich people! Like the early 80's Porsches!

Actually that would probably be a good idea to take care of the stability issues without wrecking the design. Just give the 2 rotors the ability to turn in either direction and it could be worked out with programming to get it stable.

Yep, the Skycar had a 4 independent vectored computer controlled "thrust pods", one on each corner. Two fixed fans strapped to a bike engine is going to be a bit harder to stabilize.

Wow, why are people drawing comparisons between this and daily driver vehicles? I think you're looking at this wrong. This is not meant to repalce a minivan, it's meant to sit in your garage next to your dirtbikes and ATVs.

Stability should not be a problem for opposite blade rotation and a gyro. Looks believable from here. If you stay below 1000 feet you don't even have to contact air traffic control. That being said there are a lot of towers taller than 1000 feet.

A ballistic parachute and you should be good to go. Or maybe a parachute for the bike and a parachute on your back would be good also.
