MemTest86 Errors P8P67 *HELP*

Thread Starter
Hi, looking for some assistance.

My build`s been stable for the past 5 months, then I started gettings some BSOD of Memory Management and Page Faults! I`ve changed all settings with regards to OCing, and reinstalled Windows with same errors.

When I get my BSOD and I soft reset the system, I get errors when testing with Memtest86, however if I Power down the system and Re-Start the computer, no more errors exist

Is there a fault perhaps related to the Motherboard, it`s had the problem with both the original firmware and latest one.

thanks

Can you clear the cmos, then set the bios to factory defaults, then check the memory timings. See if memtest runs ok then. If not something is toasted. Try removing sticks or memory until you get a clean run.

What I`m confused about is why I get the Memtest errors only after a Soft reset and never after a hard reset.

What speed, timings, and voltages are you running your RAM at?

What type of errors are you receiving ? (on what test)

Memtest the sticks individually and see if you can find out if it is only 1 of the sticks.

It's on XMP
7-8-7-24-2t at 1.6v

after a BSOD, I get errors all over in Memtest

Once I power down and restart, I NEVER get any errors!

my question is what's the difference in the soft reset vs hard reset to the memory ????

heat... this sounds like one of the chips on a ram stick is failing.. and I have encountered issues like this. you need to RMA the ram sticks.

You do have a bad memory chip if you get errors in memtest.

Could be overheating as well. Could be low voltage on ram or too big. Could be NB voltage.
Could be AUTO settings in bios for voltages.

I don't think it's related to heat because I can get the problem at first start, the windows blue screens right away. Again soft reset will show errors in Memtest, and hard reset clears it.

If software crashes a computer wouldn't a soft reset clear the memory anyways? Could it be related to my 2600k's memory controller?

I've tried higher volts no difference

When you are trying to find whats failing you have to start ruling out parts. Since memtest is showing errors best place to start is testing 1 stick of ram at a time or trying new ram from a working system.

Once you rule out the ram then you can look at other parts.
