Would a gtx460 bottlenecked by my q6600 @3.2Ghz?

So im planning on getting a gtx460 as they are cheap and pack a huge punch as a minor upgrade untill september when I will hve more than enough money to build a killer rig.

My question is, is my overclock enough to prevent any form of bottlenecking by the cpu?

If not any advice? I tried to get to 3.4 but it was really unstable as my Ram at 800mhz is limiting me

yeah it wont bottleneck. i got same cpu and gpu.. i know what i'm saying >.<

Now i'm stock but when i was oced it was really great. I think ill go for 3.6Ghz soon =)

Oh and gtx 460 1Gb is a great bang for the buck card. i'm waiting to make my killer rig this autumn too hehehe

It would be unlikely to ever bottleneck you much ... although it certainly could be made to if you went out of your way to create a CPU BN. It depends on what test (i.e. what game/bench) you run, and what settings you run that test at.

Im sorry if this is a stupid question but what is a CPU BN?

its when your graphic card for example is too good or too fast for your old cpu, the cpu cant feed all the information to the graphic card to work on so your 500 dollards graphic card cant work at its potential and u only get as much framerate as an gtx 260 even if u have an gtx 580.

my core 2 duo e 7400 bottlenecked my gtx 560 ti in bfbc2 , i only get as much famerate as my old hd 4850 even as lowest setting, around 15-30 fps , no matter what setting lowest or highest, switched to an i5 2500k cpu, and average 40-120 fps. Hope i explained it right .

Not a chance of any bottlenecks man, specially with that Q6600 @ 3.2Ghz..you'll be just fine
post #9 of 22
You have room to even upgrade. My E8400 @ 3.46GHz has enough power to push my 5850 to 99% usage, so you have plenty of headroom
