1090t @ 4ghz, too hot in prime95...

Thread Starter
I overclocked my 1090t to 4ghz, but seem like everytime i run prime95 to the 25min mark it reaches to 62c. Is this too hot, or i'm i doing something wrong? Need some inputs thanks.

That's a bit too hot. I like to keep mine under 55c. Try taking the CPU-nb down to 2.8 GHz and see what kind of temps you get.

Wont probably help as CPU-NB voltage doesn't affect temperatures even close to what cores do. How's your airflow?

Two things i would say-1 your air flow through your system is poor, 2 reset your 2112, at thoses settings you should not be hitting 62c with that cooler. And always if you can-drop your cpu/nb and cpu voltage, that always helps

My case is the Haf 912, i have 6 fans , and my hyper 212 is push and pull. And also my idle temp is around 36c and goes up to 60-62 in prime95 torture test. I've used the intel burn test, and the temp goes higher than prime95.

temps seem a bit high. I would try a reseat if the 212. What thermal past are you using and how are you applying it?

I'm using arctic silver. what i did was i put some on the Hyper 212, spread them up and try to go in between the pipes. Than i add like just a little bigger than a dime size to my cpu, and i press down and locked it in. I'm I doing something wrong?

sounds like way too much paste if you went with a dime size blob!

You are correct in filling in the groves left from the direct touch heat pipe design. use a credit card to scrape off the excess after filling in the spaces.

Next, you should be using a 'grain of rice' size blob in the middle if the cpu heatspreader (smaller than a bb).

edit: here's a link to the instructions- http://www.arcticsilver.com/pdf/appm...e_dot_v1.1.pdf
look at the size if the dot used. small. less if more when using thermal paste.

make sure to clean it good before reseating. Use artic clean thermal remover or denatured alcohol to clean it really good. you can use a coffee filter if you need a lint-free cloth.

I'm betting that this will knock at least 5c off your temps good luck man!
