All Asus Xonar cards will pretty much be similar in that particular game. Normally, X-Fi Based cards will excel forward in that game. It's not like Xonar's can't do any positioning at all, but it's just not that accurate in terms of determining footsteps at a farther distances.

Perhaps, RallyMaster can share his experience with that game since he owns both the STX and TiHD cards.

All the Asus cards are based around the same C-Media OxygenHD digital signal processor, similar to what is used on the HT Omega Claro cards. Having owned the Xonar D1, X-Fi XtremeMusic, Essence STX and the Titanium HD and heard the HT Omega Claro Halo in BC2, I can firmly say the C-Media DSP just can't process at the same level as the X-Fi chip. Whenever I get killed in BC2 when using a C-Media DSP powered card, it gives me an awful, helpless feeling. I can never accurately position where snipers and enemies are with my Asus cards or with my friend's HT Omega. I always think they're either really far away (like when I don't hear gunshots at all) or they're really close when in reality, they're just around the corner (in the first case) or they're really far away (case #2). It doesn't feel right so I avoid playing BC2 on the STX whenever possible.

If BF3 is using a similar sound engine, then the Titanium HD is going to stay with my computer for a long time.

well thats depressing

in 3 days I'll order the logitech x-540 5.1, I 'll use them for a couple of weeks with my realtek onboard, that will be interesting

maybe I'll hold out longer and consider a +$120 level card, the DX is ~4 years old, but is $80 where I was looking
