Essential programs to test new build

Thread Starter
Well, I'm just waiting on my 2500K to come in before I can finally build and test my computer.

What programs do you guys recommend for a full, comprehensive functionality test after completing a build? I wont be OC-ing for the next little while because I'll be very busy with school. I just want to make sure all the components are healthy.

So the name Prime95 is tossed around alot, I'll definitely keep that in mind.

Also I'm particularly worried about my GPU since it was a refurb or return (not sure).

If there are any particularly useful apps to monitor the system later on, that is greatly appreciated too. Is HWMonitor any good?

Thanks in advance. Sorry for my noobness, lol

3Dmarks is a good software to test your GPU, as well as Heaven DX11. GPU-Z will give you the information you may need on the actual GPU.

My favorite software is Sandra, by SiSoftware, a lot of information not just benchmarking.

Thanks for the suggestions DravenHavok. I'm bookmarking this thread

I hope I'm not posting in the wrong section for this topic though. Are these apps somehow tailored to test the differences in design of certain brands of hardware (e.g. Intel CPUs)?
