It's when you get your computer to use RAM as if it were a hard drive. There are a couple ways to do this but for the most part they are very expensive, very small, volatile, and depending on the method, can reduce the amount of RAM available for system use.
That said, they are INCREDIBLY fast, as you can see in the benchie.
As far as more than 2gb, they can have as much capacity as you have RAM to build it with. Software/hardware used to do this however may impose limits.

If hardware based, could the RAM be used for the system instead without any sort of loss (having to remove a stick, lower overclock, loosen timings, w/e)?
