Old School OC Questions - Socket 939 Toledo

Hey all,

Been reading through most of the archived threads about overclocking the 939 cpu's and with some parts there are mixed opinions.

Although the CPU is really old now, it's been sitting in it's box from new for years. Only been in use for a few weeks.

Currently it's Prime 95 stable at 2.6Ghz. HT is 780mhz and PC3200 ram is at 434mhz. PCI & AGP bus locks are enabled and working fine.

The temps between idle and full load don't change much when fan is set to full rpm (47oC idle, 49oC load)
Minimum voltage increase was needed to hit 2.6ghz

Questions are

What would the safe temp limit be for daily use and without killing it too quickly?
As above, but with the voltage.

At 2.8Ghz the ram needs to be underclocked a fair bit (set in bios at 266mhz speeds x 280mhz fsb)
Would 2.8ghz cpu with underclocked RAM be counter productive compared to 2.6Ghz cpu with overclocked ram (all stock timings)

With Geil Value DDR memory running cool with alloy heatsinks what's a safe limit for voltage if i'm being cautious? (2.6v standard)

With the 2.8Ghz cpu speed, would the Hyper Transport speed of approx 800mhz still be fast enough to make the most of it?

Any advise appretiated

Ram voltage should be fine upto 2.8 or 2.9

Temps should be fine up to 60c

You would get the best performance by using highest stable ram / Fsb speeds

Hyper transport needs to be lowered for overclocking you won't really take any performance hit

Thanks for the prompt response.

Seems i have a bit more headroom with ram voltage and cpu temp than i first thought.

Do you know offhand if lower Mhz ram with tighter timings would offer better gaming performance than slightly looser timings, but approx 100-150mhz more on the ram speed?

The V-Core on the Toledo's is rated at 1.35v standard. I'm thinking i should be safe on air cooling as long as i don't go above 1.5v. Does this sound about right?

Thanks again
