I would never recommend purchasing the absolute cheapest motherboard out there. Poorly built boards are usually pretty fragile and prone to shorts, etc. If you're willing to put in the money to upgrade your system, I'd really recommend saving up a little bit more and grabbing a decent motherboard. You won't regret it.

As for DDR3 RAM, Corsair Vengeance, G. Skill Ripjaws X are both good, affordable RAM that perform well. I'd recommend grabbing 4GB on a budget, 8GB if you have a little extra money.
