Media Server + Mining Rig Build?

Thread Starter
I currently have a HP Proliant Microserver that has an AMD Athlon II Neo N36L Dual Core 1.3Ghz processor. I use this for remote downloading and to stream media around the house. It does the job pretty well.

Now, I want to build a mining rig. As the 5850 are the best price/performance cards then I would use these cards to mine with.

That essentially just leaves the CPU. I want to keep costs as low as possible so I am after a CPU which would be the same or better than the one in my server for streaming media.

I've already got HDD's, a PSU, RAM (see below) and a case

If possible though, I would like to be able to use my old PC2-6400 ram I have lying around so I could save costs there. It would also need a wireless card too because its going in the garage

All I really need recommending are the Motherboard and CPU. Would anyone be able to recommend me some?

ddr3 is cheap

you can get a 880g board (4200 is great for video accelerataion on htpc)

with the x2 250 (3ghz) is $100
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.660251

if you dont mind rebates you can get 2x2 1600 for under $40

PNY XLR8 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 $49/29ar

I take that CPU will outperform the N36L in video processing, streaming etc?
This is a media server which streams films wirelessly to my media devices using Vuze. This doesnt actually feed directly out to a TV

Also, the motherboard could do with being a full atx and not a micro. It needs at least 2 PCI-e slots too

the 250 is a much faster cpu

next best would be with this board then

BIOSTAR A770E3 AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138179

no onboard gpu tho, if you have another card to put in there itll work fine

with the x2 250 its still $100

Not worried about on board gpu. My prioliant doesn't have one and it streams fine. The GPUs will just be used for mining. As long as the CPU is better then it should fine.

On a side note. I'm from the UK. Any good bundles etc here: http://www.ebuyer.com/search?page=1&sort=popularity&limit=10&store=2&cat =222&filtersubcat=2789%2C1970
