Testers that already created Protogon volumes reveal that the partitions and drives with the new file system appear to not only be faster compared to when formatted with NTFS, but also allow the usage of more space.
Looks exciting. I wonder what kind of number boosts I could get on my Revo.

I wonder what the ramifications are to a Windows 8 exclusive files system...

Anyone?

NTFS can be used as a boot drive on 3TB drives. What you need for 3TB boot drives are:

- UEFI
- GPT
- 64-bit OS
- compatible SATA/RAID controller
- compatible SATA/RAID drivers
- NTFS or Linux/Unix filesystems

Protogon is not needed to boot 3TB drives. I do not know how people created such an idea.

The same as every other new file system release for Windows.

I have seem more opinions and uneducated guesses floating this thread rather than facts. Kudos to those who have posted facts rather than what they believe to be true due to hearsay.

SSDs are not all that to me, I'd rather stick 2 X 1 TB drive in RAID 1...

At least as a PC tech all I gotta do is swap out the bad drive for a new one...

The system rebuilds the drive and continues as if nothing happened!

*wipes forhead* yeah boss, it was a lot of work, but I'm done now... (2 days later)

GTech, for most people, 1 TB is overkill, also I am not sure if most OEM motherboards support RAID?. Also, many users will benefit significantly from a small boot drive, that is relatively inexpensive. The issue now is making the experience cohesive, so it seems to users that there is just one disk, as there has 'always been'.
