im the same as you dw , i max out at 920/1420 .. anything higher will crash , my temps never go over 70c .

Its the chips limitation , or ur vram is heating up too much .

Typically vrm temps are higher than core temps by as much as 30c. You want to keep vrm temps in check. Vrm limits... I dunno but some cards run hot like the 590 whose vrms push 120c and we know how those things like to fry...

How can you monitor VRM temp?

You can't on reference cards. Fwiw, the temp gpuz reads is the volterra chip itself. For ex. on my aircooled msi, core temps are 44c and the vreg temp is 32c. When I run furmark, core temp jumps to 65c and vreg is still at 35c lol. That's not vrm temps.

Revised reference pcb and the custom TF3 pcb uses ti drmos vrms and a supported controller, which is supported.

That'd be heaven right there, lol. I can't get past 900/1400 on stock voltages. 910/1400 freezes in unigine. Gonna see what OCs i can get while staying under 70c @load, hoping for atleast a 925 core, maybe a little higher when i get my t-rad2's on

Actually, I got stable 950/1450 on stock voltage for my Gigabyte 6950. Aside from the Kombustor tests you can see in the attachment, I have also tested with 3d Mark 11 (Extreme profile) and The Witcher 2 : Assassins of Kings (with 'Uber Sampling' enabled).

1150=not stock?. closer to 6970 volts, but still good none the less. i just reformatted my rig so im going to download AB tonight and see where i can get. I tihnk u just have a much more solid chip then the rest of us, lol

Edit: also run ATI tool for 10+ minutes, i was up at 950/1400 running multiple unigine benches fine. 2 minutes into atitool artifacting everywhere. had to tone to down to 935/1400, this was at 1.175 v

Guys

Bit of advice please!

I have a FROZR III 6950, stock is 850core and 1300mem!

Stock voltage!
I have the core at 900 and the mem at 1475, what I am hoping to know is 71 - 72c too high, as I have my fan kicking in from 50% to 65% when it goes to that range, it will bring it down to 68 - 69c and then do the cycle again!

thanks
