My first SFF build. Need advice on PSU

Thread Starter
OK I'll be doing this build over the next couple of months.

Here are the parts I'll probably be going with
  • Lian Li PC-V354R
  • i7 2600K
  • ASUS Maximus Gene-Z
  • G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 4GB CAS6 x2
  • MSI 6970 Lightning 2GB
  • ASUS Xonar Essence STX (reusing from current rig)
  • Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB x2
  • Corsair H70 with Scythe AP-15 push pull

I need advice on PSU and short cables. I DON'T need advice on wattage. Rather some suggestions of PSUs with some short cables that I can use in my rig.

according to your specifications, it looks like a nice 750W power supply would be good for you, unless you would like to expand to crossfire in the future. if you want to only stay with one graphics cards, get an antec truepower new 750w, seasonic 750w, XFX black 750w, or a corsair HX750. all 750 watt psu's and will be more than plenty without breaking the bank.

If you want to upgrade to crossfire in the future, defiently get at least a 850 watt power supply. seasonic, corsiar, xfx, antec, silverstone all make quality power supplys across the board.

EDIT: your TX750w would be fine if youre not going to crossfire/dont care about modular

Get a 850 watt even if you plan to go CF. Look for a modular psu so you will minimize the amount of cables. Also maybe add a SSD into your system, since you spending so much $ already, don't get bottleneck by your mechanical hard drive.

People, it's not the wattage or PSU specs that I need to know. I need to know a good modular PSU that has got short cables. Currently the only one I can find is the Silverstone one.

Oh sorry, but a lot of the higher end psu don't have 'short' cables as they are tend for bigger cases so the cables will be technically longer for routing in the big case.

Yeah but higher end PSUs are modular. You can always connect a short cable set like
I was just wondering whether only Silverstone makes this.

You can always get a crimper and cut the cables to the size you need. I would suggest the mdpcx crimper and the sleeve to go along with it. I have done this many times and I assure you it is the best route to take for a sff system.
