So MicroCenter is having an amazing coupon for cases right now - 20% off.

Originally, I was planing on getting a case for <$120. My options are still very similar as before, but now I wont have to worry about crazy shipping charges.

For now, a mid-sized case is more than fine. Water cooling doesn't matter all too much as I won't be getting into that yet. However, a bit less than a year from now, I expect to want to get into water cooling as well as having a larger case.

So the issue is... get a great deal on a mid-size case now? OR get a potentially great deal on a larger case? Potentially because prices could no doubt come down in 9-12months.

Mid-Size Case Choices [all are $80]
  • Bitfenix Shinobi - Nice clean look. Good air cooling. Water cooling ability. Although it lacks top ports n such, it seems to have the cleanest/nicest look while still having good airflow.
  • Xigmatek Pantheon - Lotsa options up top. Lotsa fans.
  • ThermalTake V9 - Decent amount of fans. HDD loader up top.
  • CM 690 II - Tons of fans. Decent top panel options.

Step up a lil...
  • $120 - HAF 932

Looks are fine n basic. Airflow seems to be nice. Not the advanced or black edition, so the white interior is kinda like meh. e-Sata & top HDD are great, sadly no USB3 but oh well.
  • $145 - Dark Fleet DF-85
I honestly dont know all too much about this case. Looks okay but the HAF 932 seems superior? Could just be that Im a noob

My high-end
  • $175 - Xigmatek Elysium
Didn't know about this case till a few minutes ago.
The looks aren't bad, though the thing at the top is a bit ugly. Also, top hdd standing up instead of laying down is ugly imo.
Seems to be very nice and spacious for cooling in general. Read that stock WCing capability is superior to Corsairs 800D ;O. All the top ports that I want

    $225 - Corsair 800D
Didn't think I'd be seeing this, new, at such a cheap price! Looks simply beautiful. Price is a factor, as the Xigmatek is already outside my comfort zone.
Doesn't seem to have any top ports o.O

If you went straight to watercooling, the choice would be obvious: the 800D. But the 800D really lacks performance when it comes to aircooling.

Remember 1 year is a long time (especially on OCN) and who knows what there will be in a year...

I'd say you should get an awesome looking case for aircooling now and look for a proper WC case again in a year. If I had to choose one of these cases though, I'd get the CM 690II because of its look and functionality. On top of that the 690II even has support for two internal 240 rads. Just my .

Given your current and future requirements, and budget, and looking at your listed choices, I'd recommend the HAF 932. You may be able to score one of the black interior versions. Or a HAF X. Look for some sales though, and more upcoming mir's from Coolermaster, they have them quite often.

Would be more or less a choice I'd like to be able to act on today or within a few days. Ive waited on a discounted CM 932 black interior for a few weeks now and honestly, its simply not worth waiting any longer.

Do you know if the 690II has dust filters, or would that be something I would need to add after the fact?
