ahh but the rules have changed, im going to use two 580s 3gb now, hardocp says 128W idle x2 and 390W full load x2. I think the 1200W is sounding more reasonable now. keep in mind i will have around 7 total hard drives, combination SSD/HDD. And 1-2 disk drives. not to mention cooling, i will not be going with stock cooling.

I've just ordered two GTX 580 Lightnings and will be using an AX850 to power them. 1200 is still way overkill unless you will be using at least 3 580's...

Even with all of the drives you will be running you'll need less than 100 watts for them so that isn't going to be that big of a deal.
