HDD making juddering sounds?

Hey guys,

Quick thing, over the last few weeks I've been noticing my hard disk is making a juddering sound every few minutes when something is being read from the disk. It has in recent months gotten noisier since I did my upgrade and this new sound happens in groups of 4 judders (sorry I can't be more specific).

Now I get that there is some level of noise from the mechanics inside, but this noise is a bit different to that "standard" (or what I've become used to) noise a hard disk makes.

I know its not really ideal if I cant post any audio clips or anything, but as a general assessment, would you guys think its time to change the drive? I was going to soon anyway as my friend got a job at Intel so I'm hoping for some nice discount on an SSD, but was hoping to use it afterwards as a backup drive.

And for reference, its a Western Digital WD5000AAKS and I got it around 2 years go I believe.

Thanks!

It's fine don't worry over it. It is just getting a little old thats all. I know my hds made some wierd noises a few times and they are still going. Also good luck with getting an ssd. I would so love to get one myself but i don't know anyone who can get in on the intel edge deals.
