XtremeMusic unable to install drivers.

Thread Starter
Hey there.

Today I took out my XtremeMusic I received in the mail, and put it into my computer. I booted up Windows 7 64-bit, and Window's native drivers didn't recognize my XtremeMusic. I went to device manager, and the XtremeMusic was named as a Multimedia Audio Controller.

I went to Creative's site and downloaded the latest Windows 7 64-bit drivers and when it started, it said that there was no device that the drivers could be installed too.

I searched around on Google, and really found nothing that could help me.

Could it be:
Bad PCI Slot
Bad card
Wrong procedure
Onboard sound and drivers
Interference
Other?

If you have a XtremeMusic, help would be greatly appreciated.

They have another driver there (more like a "patch") that should resolve the Windows doesn't detect my Creative card correctly problem. Try it. Should be called the Product Identification Module Update

Look here: http://support.creative.com/Products...T=CategoryID:1

It says it applies to the XtremeMusic as well. So, it may work?

Now that I look at it again, it may NOT work. It says "Resolves the hardware/device detection issue in Creative Software AutoUpdate running on Windows 7." So I dunno.

Now that your into your normal desktop mode, you should notice that your card still doesn't show up properly. If you try to go into Creative control panel, it will say "No product detected."

Install, Creative SB Titanium Windows 7 Detection.exe
This will let Windows know the amount of awesome you have in your machine."

Unfortunately, it didn't work.
Thanks for the effort though, I really appreciate it.
I'm going to try another PCI slot soon.

Did you have to disable any onboard audio for your Titanium to work?

Edit: Going to go try out the steps now.

it is preferred to disable the onboard sound to avoid some software conflict.

if you did uninstall the driver, run driver cleaner to clean out the remaining files?

download PAX drivers, have no issues with them.

To be honest, I don't remember. I know it's disabled at the BIOS level, but I don't remember if I had to do that to get it to work. I'd turn it off there, you can always turn it back on later.

The truth is that if your card works, then it'll work even if onboard is on. I had my ALC889, my Titanium HD and my Fiio E7 up and running at the same time without any problems.
