NZXT Phantom - position of fans for best airflow ?

Yo OCN.

I just ordered the NZXT Phantom green/black edition and I've been wondering where I should place my H50 rad + other fans to get maximum airflow.
I currently use a push/pull configuration blowing the air out. However, I would prefer if they were to blow the air into the case this time. Lesser crowded case makes intake possible etc.

I modded this picture to illustrate my plan:

- Rear: H50 intake
- Top: 2x 120mm exhaust
- Side: 200mm intake
- Front: 1x or 2x 120/140mm intake

I will be using the current components in my signature.

They will be placed inside her btw:

Good airflow ? Bad airflow ? Any feedback or recommendations will be much appreciated !

Looks good to me. Heat tends to flow up, so you're good.

Also try experimenting with the side intake. Make it exhaust to see if your temps get better with your graphics card, it lowered my Twin Frozr II's temps by at least 5C.

Really ? I will definitely try it !
I use a PCI wireless card right between my GPU's, which blocks the airflow to the top GPU. So idk if it will work when presumably I need more cold air.

However, I shall try it. Thanks.

The American TigerDirect and Amazon were the only sellers I was able to find selling it. After seeing the green one, I just needed it badly ... ^^

I ordered it all the way to Europe.

I hate to bump my own thread, however I am certain there are more opinions out there and tips eventually.

Just to be on the safe side - is any sort of better airflow possible or am I good, just perfect ?

I'd personally mount the H50 upward if you have room to squeeze, that way the majority of your heat is already exhausted out, just my .02 smile.gif

Upwards as in place it in the top ?
I could do that, however I prefer intake. I've been having it as an exhaust since I bought this rig in August and my temps are idling around 45C. Not too fond of it.
Thanks though.

I pondered this exact same thing. Here's what I came up with and my CPU temps improved by maybe 3C.

IMG_20110603_193359.jpg

With many cards the majority of the hot air is exhausted out the back of the case with the remainder radiating upward. Reference exhausts almost all, something like a TFII barely exhausts any outside the case. Since my tower has it's back to a wall I figured the H50 intake (on the top left) was probably pulling in whatever just came off the GPU. So I figured out, mounted sideways the h50 fits near perfectly into the 5.25 bay taking up exactly 3 slots. With some two sided tape it's in there SOLID and doesn't vibrate. Cool air (with the door closed) comes in primarily from the backside of the HDD vent.

I recommend it if you don't have more than 2 optical drives! Don't forget there's also 2x 120mm on the bottom right in front of the two HDD cages. Though I removed the second one as I thought it was too restrictive for airflow.
