i plan to game mostly but out of curiosity, what is cuda?
well with Nvidia cards they allow for cuda processing, which is kind of like using a bunch of processing cores on the gfx card to speed up rendering in video editing in programs that take advantage of it.

You don't need 2 6970's for gaming, trust me. One will be fine.

rly!?

thats awesome! i rly was debating about getting the second one on another forum...

@AquaKool what are your thoughts on the WD Caviar Black 7200 RPM 1TB vs SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 1TB 7200 RPM?
I voted no.

Case: HAF X
Personally I find this case extremely ugly. Just my opinion though. Cases are always subjective.

CPU: Intel Core i7-2600K
110% overkill if you're just gaming. The 2600k is only helpful if you're folding or doing a LOT of stuff that'll use 8 threads.

Motherboard: ASUS MAXIMUS IV EXTREME
Good board. There's cheaper ones such as the P8P67 Pro that are just as good though.

SSD: 2x Crucial RealSSD C300 2.5" 64GB
Why 2 SSD's? Just get one. You don't need more than 60GB really, as its just there for essential apps. Gaming, you'll notice absolutely ZERO increase by using the SSD.

Hard Drive: 4x SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 1TB 7200 RPM
Great drives. I assume a RAID10?

Graphics Card: XFX Radeon HD 6970 2GB (1 or 2 haven't decided yet)
Ewww, XFX. Kill it with fire! Get another brand. I've been extremely happy with my Nvidia cards lately, so it wouldn't hurt to look into them either.

Power Supply: CORSAIR Professional Series AX750 750W
If you're only doing one GPU, this PSU is completely too much. It'll handle the crossfire 6970's fine though. But for just one card, its too much and a waste of money.

Ram: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB)
That's a pretty decent price on that RAM. Not too shabby of a find. The GSkill Ripjaw DDR3-1600 2x4GB kit is usually on sale for $75 though, so I'd wait for that sale and grab those instead.

I have a Caviar Black as you can see from my sig, it's really fast and I've never had a problem with it. However, I've heard that the F3 is slightly faster.

I always buy WD just because I like the brand, but it seems that the F3 has slightly better peformance.

The WD Black 1TB and bigger drives are faster for general usage, but not by much. The F3's are slightly faster in RAID arrays, especially for storage use.

The F3's are usually the best bang for the buck, even for daily usage though.
