Best Value 2-way/ 3-way SLI Card - Page 2

you would want the 2 GB version of the GTX 560 Ti or the 2 GB HD 6950.
card that you want to avoid > GTX 470 and GTX 570. those have low amount of VRAM that will not be sufficient in surround.

you basically have 3 options, one of which is to SLI the GTX 560 Ti 2 GB or Crossfire the HD 6950 2GB. both cost about $600
or you can SLI the GTX 580 3 GB (extremely costly, $1000) or Crossfire the HD 6970 (not that much of a boost over the above, $700)
another set up would be the HD 6990 3 way crossfire with the HD 6970 (the 6990 is extremely loud if you don't have water cooling, $1050)

or you can wait a few months for newer generation cards and then do multi-GPU on those.
this i highly recommend. current gen stuffs can't do decent 3D surround. if u only want surround, then get one of the above set up. but if u want to 3D surround, you may want to wait.
also i'm not sure if AMD supports 3D and eyefinity.

That is a massive workload and you'll probably need a 3 or even 4 way 580 3gb to have both performance and graphics (but correct me if I'm wrong, I have no direct experience on this, it's out of my wallet range ). If I remember correctly, going 3d is the double of the workload, that means you would try to run like 6x 19x10.
If you want a more immersive experience yet you don't have enough money to spend, try buying a bigger screen to game on (a 2560 monitor? a 40" LED tv?).
Thank you. OP has made several threads about 3D Surround and people are recommending 460's and 560's

Three 120Hz screens takes a boatload of power.

then just get two 580s and be done with it... if you have the psu and money... then 3x570s would actually be a little bit less money than the two 580s depending on what vendor you buy from.

However tri sli scaling is not the best. That's why i downgraded motherboards and have one 570 being currently unused. And what resolution are you gaming on?

BTW I have a 590 on my 1366 rig, it's performance is < 2x570s and 2x580s...

if you quadfire... it wouldn't be worth it in my opinion as i don't think they scale very well

Yeah man i've been saving for a while, and all the scaling/software issues ive heard with dual 590s is making my head hurt, i don't want to deal with that. I think dual 3gb 580s would be the best for my nvidia 3 monitor surround setup. I don't care about 3d anymore, that will be 2 years down the road.
yes those 3 GB GTX 580 cards will suit your needs well enough.
and yea, 3D isn't all that great. just stick with normal and enjoy your higher refresh rate.

You dont need anything more than these two http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-564-_-Product for a good and stable 3d surround.Even if you see that the 2 570GTX aren't enough(rare case) you just put another one for trisli but i am sure 2 of them will do the trick.
Now if you want to spend more money is your matter

Not enough VRAM for Surround Gaming. OPs choice of 3GB 580's will do the job. When Kepler comes out I suspect there will be more high VRAM options so triple monitor 3D gaming will be much more affordable. Perhaps 2.5GB 670's
