My 3x 500gb F3's in Raid 0 Benchmarks. - Page 5

I might reformat and do the partition. Access times seem to rock with the 150gb SS, however I'm sure I can get to around 400/500gb without it dipping too much.

So all I do is create the raid array with the full drives and then when installing windows just create a primary partition and then install right? can I use the free unallocated space? I only ask because there seems to be a debate about it.

You can do it that way, or you can short stroke it in the raid BIOS. It doesn't really matter as far as performance.

Using the rest of the space is fine, so long as it's not being accessed at the same time the short stroke is. Because then not all of the heads are on the short stroked area and is thus going to cause a loss of performance. I use the rest of my space only for storage.

You can use a partition, or you can set up a 2nd array in the raid BIOS to use the remaining space.
