I fixed my MX510 that had this problem with a pocket-knife and some tape.
Cut the cord either side of the break in the wire, strip both ends of the broken wire and reconnect them by twisting the ends together.
Tape over the exposed copper wire and then over all of the wires where the insulation was and you're done.

That's not a pretty fix if it's external but with black tape and a black cord and with it behind a desk it'd probably be less of an eyesore than you might think.
In my case the break was inside the mouse so I'll never see it and it'll never get worn as it's almost clamped in place the way it is.
You can also solder it but I didn't bother and it worked perfectly.

Not saying it will, but if you tend to use your scroll wheel a lot the plastic encoder inside the 1.1 will snap creating a free scroll/loose feeling. You can "fix" it, but it's not a permanent solution.

Longevity depends on personal/gaming habits.

Thread Starter
Just picked up the 1.1 today, sooo happy w/ it , I never use the scroll wheel so it's all good, but god damn, my aim is so much better in tf2 & cs:s w/ it. The cord in my mionix isn't damaged at all. The only thing wrong with it is the fact that the sleeving tore in some areas, but the cord itself is fine. It might just be a problem w/ the mouse or something

You might try to disalbe the USB Legacy Support in your bios.
