Phone/plan advice: just need full keyboard + unli text

The title pretty much says it all: I'm looking to pick up a dumbphone with a full keyboard and an individual plan specifically for texting (no need for calls..) and as cheaply as possible. Suggestions?

Also, my family gets by with pay-as-you-go phones so I can't really talk them into any sort of family plan.. I used to be the same way since I was insanely introverted, but an expanding circle of friends has sort of made that impractical...

Thanks in advance for the help!

If there's service in your area, Virgin mobile (sprint) has Unl Text and Web for $25/mo prepay. Your choice of phones. That'll be the cheapest afaik.

From the very little knowledge I have on US carriers this looks like a very very good idea. I wish we got plans like that frown.gif

Its not, T-mobile has unlimited texting for 15, but its just texts. Sim card switching enables you to have the best phone possible!

Sorry I didn't get back to this until now guys - I didn't get a response the first day and sort of forgot I even made the thread.

Thanks for the suggestions thus far.. +reps handed out! It looks like Tmobile's $15/mo unli text is the way to go as far as what I'm wanting, and the benefit of not having to deal with a contract is a huge plus.

From their selection, the Samsung t369 for $60 seems to be closest to what I'm after in a phone.. but from the sounds of what Nausicaa said as well as what I've been able to find out elsewhere, I can just get a Prepaid SIM Card for $6.99 and toss it into any unlocked cell phone.

Any suggestions on a better unlocked phone in the <$75 range that will work with this plan? Or should I just go with the t369 for the convenience?

Honestly, that phone seems like a great option for you. I don't know much about messaging phones though. XP

A G1 can be had for around the same amount if it is used. I'd check on craigslist. I had an HTC Ozone from Verizon, they had a SIM card and if you prefer the bar style phone, they keyboard is a bit cramped though. Older Blackberries will fit the bill as well. I prefer them so I don't have to slide my keyboard, if you prefer the sliding style, a sidekick has an excellent keyboard and is very inexpensive. I'd choose a blackberry for ease of use, excellent hardware keyboards, great battery life, and a stable but unmoddable OS. They also use miniUSB, so you won't have a problem with a proprietary cable, as does the Ozone.
