BF:BC2 xbox controller/joystick configuration

Thread Starter
I have two things:

Wired Xbox 360 Controller
Logitech Extreme 3d Pro Joystick

Basically, I want to set one or both of these to be used as my controller for flying helicopters. I fly extremely well on the Xbox version of the game with the controller. I can effectively circle strafe, nose dive and pick up, fly between obstacles and buildings and trees, etc. I do it extremely well, and would consider myself a great pilot.

However, I have been trying to set either one of these controllers as my method of flying the helicopters in the PC version of the game. However, I can not for the life of me get them to react and have the sensitivity/acceleration, responsiveness, etc, of the Xbox helicopters. As far as I can tell the PC heli's and the Xbox heli's have completely different handling patterns.

Any time I go into a slight dive, I lose altitude extremely quickly even as I try and pull up. As I try and circle strafe, I can't keep my altitude up even on slight rolls, and the altitude I lose seems impossible to regain once I'm going down. All in all the responsiveness of the helicopters seems extremely sluggish and slow compared to the Xbox version.

Are they really just two completely different ways the heli's handle, or is there some combination of sensitivity/acceleration/throttle controls that I have to set to get my Xbox flying ability to transfer over better to the PC version?

That and is there any way to get Bad Company 2 to natively recognize either of my controllers as joysticks in-game, or do I have to use third party applications? All the software downloaded, drivers up, etc, in game I can't set the joystick/controller's controls to the joystick column in the in game mapper.

The actual way the chopper works is different.

The helis on consoles are rape. Some of the maneuvers they do.............is ridiculous. I mean I've seen people actually gain altitude while at a diving angle ?

I would give you a link, but I remember some members on the forum talking about how the actual game mechanics are different.
Long story short; I don't think you can.

I can map the controls to my x360 controller no problem. Granted, some buttons don't work but enough do so it's OK. But, yes you're supposed to lose altitude when you pitch forward

My settings if they help.
