Thread Starter

Hey guys, finally got a build planned out. Here it is. My budget is $1500, and I cannot go over it.

So here is my build.

Google Spreadsheet

What do you guys think?

The yellow highlighting means that I've bought the item. The red is just there for me so to show that I have full faith and confidence in the product I've chosen.

Looks great wouldnt change a thing except maybe the motherboard. I just dont care for that brand personally. Other than that it looks great!

I'm making myself a build and it looks quite similar to yours.... Minus 150$ on a keyboard and mouse, lol!

Instead of the msi 6950, maybe spend the extra 15$ and get the xfx version.... (I'm getting the 6970's so i dunno if available for 6950's) but they have a lifetime warranty and they're totally cool with any type of software ocing!

The reason I picked the AsRock is because I've heard a lot of great things about them, and the features you get for the price is second to none.

Of course, I also like the underdogs

I had an XFX 650w in my previous build. The fan was quite loud in it, and made a constant clicking noise. It may have been a defective unit, but just wanted to mention that. Also try your best to get a reference 6950 so you can unlock it to the 6970. If I am to be correct, only the reference models can be successfully flashed. Great build though!

I tried to find a reference 6950, but alas they seem to have finally run out

But the twin frozr iii seems to be the next best thing. I'm sure I can overclock that thing pretty well.

Well, if everything checks out, I'll be ready to buy it in the next 2 days. Tomorrow I'm gonna do one last price check to make sure I got the cheapest stuff, then I'm buying.

It is about time I got rid of this old sig rig. Giving it to my brother.

I've heard a lot of good things about that brand lately actually. I've never actually used one of their boards though so I can neither confirm nor deny how good ASRock actually is.

Oh yeah, no worries about getting the Twin Frozr, it'll overclock a bit farther than a reference card because of the nice third party cooler.

It looks like a really solid build I don't really see any problem areas here. Good luck on the build.
