PREMIERE PRO CS5.5 HDD or SSD HELP!!

Thread Starter
Hey guys

I am building a new video editing pc with adobe cs 5.5

I am thinking of getting..

1 x 120gb ocz vertex 3 for windows/programs

1 x 120gb ocz vertex 3 for scratch disk/to cut on

and one 2tb hard drive for storage.

My question is.. will I notice a boost in performance while editing using a SSD as a scratch disk/drive to cut on or should I go for a set up like this...

1 x 120gb SSD for windows/programs

1 x 300gb VelociRaptor 10,000rpm drive to cut on?

1 x 2tb storage drive

First choice is a total of $767.00
Second choice is a total of $579.00

So is the extra $188.00 worth it?

Thanks guys!!!

I wouldn't use an SSD as a scratch disk. Constantly writing and rewriting on it will cause it to slow down over time and decrease the lifespan to the point where it will eventually become unreliable. Definitely get an SSD for windows and programs, but go with the VelociRaptor for the scratch disk and save yourself some money.
