Click Properties

Click on Internet Protocol Version 4 ---> go to Properties

Click "Use the following DNS server addresses:"

Type in
Primary: 208.68.222.222
Secondary: 208.67.220.220

This can also be done to your router as well. Open up your router stuff in a browser, go to the basic settings and change the DNS to what I have above.

AS SOON as you're done configuring this, do what I said to do above.
+rep, I can finally watch videos in 720p.

Ok, I hate to bump a 4 day old thread but I kind of need help and it is directly related to this. Since I changed my DNS manually when I use the URL bar in Firefox to search it uses OpenDNS to search instead of google. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Edit: Magically fixed itself...my apologies to the mods.

Glad you bumped this, sorta missed it when it was posted.
Weird I always read the news too...

Was going to try this on my friends router but no idea where since it has a million options.

I'll give it a try when I get home, I always have trouble viewing videos even on a fast connection, no matter the PC/laptop/OS I use. >.<

If you could pick.

a. Everything loads instantly
b. Everything loads within 3 seconds

Which would you pick?

I'm not that everything is loading instantly with SDPY, but its a small step forward to the future. Just sayin.

I can't tell a difference myself(very little, if any). I think a lot is placebo effect or people were using their router's/ISP's default DNS servers before doing this change. As in they are seeing the big jump from going from the default to Google/Open DNS more so than SPDY.

I believe as well that Placebo effect is a big part here, however those who can now watch +720p videos that couldn't before must have seen some improvements.

I for one can't notice web pages loading any faster, but videos are loading so much faster.

Dude this is weird. I have used open DNS for a long time, and recently I noticed all the sudden, that my internet was a lot faster. But yet, Speedtest doesn't register it to be going any faster than it always has. Odd.

I just followed the guide at the beginning of the thread and it didn't work. Is it because I'm behind a router with a dynamic DNS? I have no idea how our router is set up, my dad does that, but it seems we're using dyndns.org?

+rep for posting this.

I suggest all of you run this tool(I used the first one) to get some solid data that can be compared.

People who are reporting significant speed improvement, either all your ISP's nameservers are absolute crap or you're all having serious placebo effects.

I have used OpenDNS in the past, but using my ISP's nameserver atm.

I'll use the opendns servers again just to check if tehre is actually any improvement, I doubt it though.

EDIT: Yep, no change observed. For people that are saying the videos are loading quick, not all 720p videos have the same bitrate. Thats why some videos load faster than others. I have mostly observed this with movies and movie trailers and stuff like that.
