BIG difference for me on Comcast (20mb) in Minneapolis, MN

Before, I could BARELY do 720p youtube (and at times, 480p). now it buffers and plays 1080p no problem and buffers way ahead of the playback.... look good to me!

Just because you connect to www.insertwebpageaddresshere.com, doesn't mean any of the content is actually on the server hosting that particular site. Most of the site's formatting and plugins may be on that server, but a lot of content may not be.

In fact, so much of many parts of websites today are offloaded onto other servers it's almost ridiculous the amount of connects that have to be made to gather content.
Hmm... could it have anything to do with the ping? My ping number used to be 45, now its 23. I live out in the boonies.

Sweet video, will have to watch sometime.

Seems like most people are confused on the thread topic.
This didn't make too much sense to me either, and it specifically says in the article about only with chrome and only sites that have switched to it...I don't know if youtube is one of those sites?

For those people in here claiming screaming fast new loading times, I'm guessing mostly placebo...but if not, does ISP dns really bottle neck that badly?

I've been using Googles 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for months now since I setup my PFSense router, but I only have a 2mb up 1mb down connection (at least I assume because that's what my speed tests report, I don't remember which package I even have lol).

Funny, I was thinking the other day about how important of a role ISP's really do play in the internet...I mean the internet is nothing at all except all our machines, yet the internet wouldn't really exist without ISP. I guess in the end it comes down to, without ISP who would lay down (physically) all the high speed lines needed?

Damn I'm jealous of your 20mb, I'm stuck with a 2mb/1mb connection because I'm in too small of a town for FIoS to get here.

an update....
this worked great for youtube and such.... but COMPLETELY killed gaming latency.
Just finding servers for TF2 took much longer and the lowest ping I could find was 200ms... average was around 700ms.
I went back to auto DNS and pings are back in the 30-range

I used to have that problem with some DNSs.
Open's always been good to me though.

Oh, and the reason why that youtube video "Home" loads so much faster than any other cause that has a bandwidth priority over other youtube videos cause its 1hr long
Thank you so much for this command, i didn't use a different dns as mine is already fast enough, but I haven't been able to load any vids on you tube in the last month but with that command im back to normal thank u sooooo much.

I just got this working... Holy **** there IS a difference using this... Like normally I have fast internet in California and all.. What I thought was fast, with this it is even faster! Pages like Bestbuy, Kmart, Walmart, Facebook, Amazon all open as soon as I hit enter I can't even see a "loading"

Google+, with Google's own web protocol, loaded in Chrome browser, running on Chromebooks, Android tabs and phones...

Google's gonna have its own Internet soon.
