Deciding on Laptop for College - Page 2

The HP is a bit lighter and thinner and has a far better GPU. However, you're not going to need a gpu for anything in college that integrated graphics can't handle. I suggest you get a nice business class laptop like the Lenovo t520 and a nice 1920x1080 screen. They will last longer, have better battery life, and excellent build quality. I would especially recommend this route since you are taking your desktop to college.

Edit
The screen on the HP is not as good as the Dell, but it is matte and by no means a poor screen.

Here's a nice Lenovo with Windows 7 Pro. Might have to upgrade the HDD though.

Maybe a Samsung?

I think the Lenovo T520 is a bit more expensive isn't it? If I even want to get decent specs on it lol (Like the 1080p screen + additional ram already takes it past like 1,200).

Does anyone have experience with that particular HP laptop? There aren't like any real reviews for it that I can find lol.

EDIT:
I'm leaning towards the HP because it seems like it's the better deal since it's cheaper and has a better CPU/GPU and I'm not sure if I should get the Dell just because of the screen even though the HP screen isn't necessarily "bad".

Can anyone explain how the TurboBoost software works? Is it like you overclock it or does it automatically change the clock speed based on the demands of the software it's running at the time?

Alright so I bought the HP but I've been hearing bad things about the battery life and complaints about the GPU not supporting OpenGL/switchable graphics not working as intended.

Does anyone have personal experience with this?

I have actually heard that the battery life is pretty decent from all of the reviews I have looked at. I have had a personal debate as well between the XPS 15 and the DV6tQ.

One other aspect I have noticed is that a lot of people say that the XPS 15's build quality is much better than the DV6tQ. As in the HP is more flimsy and is build with a poorer quality material.
