There is nothing wrong with Phenom II. Personally I wouldnt wait for BDs. You are not going to gain from 8 cores and gaming. If you need to run 30 tabs on firefox... a 1100T will eat it up.
I don't see why it shouldn't though,I usually run the CPU at stock to save power, though I keep the NB OC'd to 2.8,with +0.100V added,do I not have enough voltage to the IMC/NB?

Anything practical?

I ask because I have considered going down to microcenter and grabbin the 2500K + P8P67 PRO, but I just can't justify it when all the review say that the GPU is a bottleneck at 1920x1080.
I do alot of encoding, and FSX and both need heaps of clock speed! And this chip delivers. I used to get 32FPS in FSX @ 3.8 965 now I get over 100FPS @4.5 2600K!

I also had Quad SLI 295s and I saw about a 20FPS increase in performance.

SB has 4 real cores, and 4 more virtual "cores" with HT. Whether those 4 extra cores are real or virtual makes no difference as they ARE NOT USED IN GAMING. In addition, you are also misinformed about resource sharing. 2 cores share resources to from a "module". However, the single core performance actually decreases due to the sharing of resources, this is not more efficient as you claim.

You disagree with my point but then agree with somone who says exactly the same thing? Get your story straight man.
Why do some have to argue in forums? Please respond appropriately. Until Bulldozer is released, we will not know any results. If you were truly informed, which you are not, BULLDOZER uses much different architecture. The core has been re engineered using K8 architecture but AMD shrunk the die and actually added more cores. All the resources are connected thus sharing the resources. Intels architecture features virtual cores and DOES NOT share any resources where BD uses actual cores that indeed share the resources. You may say big deal but it is very big and could make a huge difference. The CPU will run much more efficient and the OS will be able to assign the execution to one core whereas Intels architecture does not. The 2500 and 2600K indeed pull higher frame rates in games than Phenoms and Bloomfields. They also overclock much higher offering even higher frame rates over its competition and Brethren.

By no means am I saying BD will be better in gaming but if you get off on making a blanket statement without having any knowledge or seeing any benchmarks, then you are vastly shooting from the hip. Please before you even try on pretending you actually know what is going on, do a little research as it will do you wonders in educating yourself about both Intels and AMD's architecture. Efficiency can lead to better performance even in single threaded apps.

I think you needed to be kicked in the chin on this one. Appreciate you candor but your response was unessesary. Believe me I have the story straight man. At this point Sandy will be fine with him all I said....

I'm looking at the i7-2600k.

However I don't know if I should wait for bulldozer to come out or go with sandy bridge?

Is bulldozer expected to be worth the wait?
Go the 2600k dude you will not regret it.
