Old consoles on HDTV? - Page 2

Even if you get a converter, its gonna look like crap. I hooked up my n64 to my 50' Sammy plasma and all I saw were pixels. I now have my PS1 and N64 hooked up to a Sony XBR CRT. CRT's are the best tv's you can get for retro consoles.

The SNES looks great on my 42" LCD TV. Of course I am using the HQX4 filter. I love it...cartoon city! eek.gif

Oh, you're trying to connect the actual system to the TV. I can't help you...I don't live in the stone age anymore. tongue.gif

Clearly he doesn't care about upping the image quality from the original source.

Yeah, I do have an RF modulator tongue.gif

I was hoping there would be a better way, such as a composite to component box, but I guess not.

Actually the green input for component, is the (y) connect. You can plug your yellow (composite) cable into the green input and it should work.

I am using old consoles on my 23 inch HDTV and they look great.
You need a high quality cable, I bought some on ebay for about £5 each and all of my consoles look fine:

NES
SNES
Sega Genesis
Sega Master system
Sega Saturn etc

They all look really good because I'm not using the original basic cable they came with, that you had to scan to find the signal and it still ends up being blurry..

Hey I have a similar problem to what OP has. When I play old consoles on my TV, the picture "jumps" up and down. Flickering sort of. It's very annoying. What causes this, and how can I fix it? Has it anything to do with Hz? I can't change the Hz setting on my TV.

Anyway, I know my old consoles won't look as good on the LCD. It's a necessary evil I think, since I'm tired of having this old 20" TV taking up so much space in my room.

Hmm.. more often than not, aren't those 24 inchers not good the better IPS panels (if it even is)? with 65" and up, they usually have better panels hence better Image Quality.. right?

As far as experience goes, image quality isn't even determined by resolution unless it's text heavy (computer functions) as much as panel type.
