My BBB 9000 is probably more than 3 years old at this point, I have no idea why I still have it. I'm planning to buy a new phone sometime this fall and I'm stuck between the Samsung Attain and the HTC Holiday.

The only important differences are: the Attain of course has SAMOLED+ at 800*480, 4.3", the Holiday has (I assume LCD) qHD at 960*540, 4.5". The Attain has 32GB of built in memory, HTC hasn't really announced yet. While both are likely to have LTE, the only one that people are completely sure of is the Holiday.

Other than that they're almost exactly the same, RAM, CPU, etc. I don't know which one to get, so tell me.

Edit: I forgot to mention the Holiday is rumored to be 3D and IIRC has 2 cameras on the back to shoot 3D

But I don't really give a crap about 3D, it doesn't affect my choice at all.

Hey Seems like the holiday is preety sweet. But you should get the Attain

I personally thought the qHD on my friend's Atrix was really weird and had spotting all over it like someone had killed half of each pixel or something. But that doesn't mean it's the same manufacturer, just because it's the same res. IDK. HARD TO CHOOSE. ATTAIN IS NOT GOING TO HAVE LTE, I researched more.

That's because they literally did. What you're looking at is the Pentile Matrix.

It says Samsung, but Motorola did the same thing with the Atrix. When they say its a 960x540 screen they are counting the green pixels. But what you're actually seeing are the giant red and blue pixels, so instead of a 960x540 screen what you're actually looking at is a 480x270 screen.

From what I've seen HTC is using regular qHD IPS screens, so it should be a lot better. Still, IPS can't hold a candle to RGB AMOLED.

I'd go for the Attain, but it's worth mentioning the holiday is a very theoretical device at this point (unless I missed something huge on it)

Actually, it sounds like HTC is using middle of the line screens with high res. Not IPS.

Edit: Where did 32Gb of storage come from (captivate/SGSII has 16GB) for the attain and 4.5" screen for the holiday (HTC likes 4.3")? Also, LTE? We have no confirmation of that on the holiday (again, deeply theoretical device) and the Attain is not likely to have it.

Assuming they both make it to stores by this fall, would a good option be to just go in and ask them if I could look at some of them and actually use them, then decide?

samsung changed back from pentile matrix to normal in the infuse 4g/sgsII lines (hence, the samoled+ instead of samoled). so the pentile matrix argument against samloed is null and void after the sgs I series.
