Advice on 2600k overclock

Thread Starter
i just built a new rig, i7 2600k, gigabyte z68-ud7 board and 8gb of 1600mhz corsair vengeance ram.

im going to be getting a corsair h70 cooler very soon, and just wanted some help on how to overclock the cpu to something decent, such as 4-4.5ghz.

its my first time owning an unlocked processor and i would appreciate some opinions and suggestions on how to do this.

thanks

Uffff... H70 Noisy!!!!!!! Make sure you plug both fans into the splitter and then plug the fans into your Mobo so your PC doesn't sound like a race car.
Welcome to OCN.
As for overclocking, I dunno about that aspect, but apparently OCing is easy on SB, there are quite a few guides out there. Overall, make sure you keep your temps low and your voltage within SAFE levels.

thanks for the guide apple.

and thanks fr the welcome butter. im new to make an account but always been on here reading forums and found it very helpful. and yea im gonna use the splitters, but from what i have read the h70 does a pretty decent job at cooling. besides, my 5870 now makes enough noise since it runs the fan at 50% all the time lol, im not too worried about a loud pc tongue.gif

Trust me, the H70 sounds like a friggen race car at 100%. plus, your fan's life span will be much lower if the fans are always at 100%, so defo use the splitter to control them via the mobo. With the H70, my CPU temps never pass 60ºc at full load. NEVAR. amazing biggrin.gif
