I keep breaking motherboards.

Thread Starter
So theres something up and I can't quite figure it out.

I had a p5n32-e sli and the ethernet controller died. A couple weeks later, the entire motherboard crapped out and wouldn't boot.

I borrowed my friend's P5ne-sli with HIS q6600 in it and after 3 days, the ethernet controller crapped out just the same.

This big issue here is now my computer keeps locking up during cpu intensive stuff. I have no overclock at all, just running the default settings. My temps are ~52 at load and ~42 idle. I have a tuniq tower and used AS5.

I am a music producer, so I have about 5 USB controllers plugged in (all usb powered) along with a firewire powered soundcard. I'm about 90% sure its my PSU but I'd just like to make sure first.

I can provide any information needed. Please help

What PSU are you using?
And, how careful are you while mounting the boards?

You said the Ethernet controller died on two different boards. Did you check the little pins on the I/O plate that you have to bend back or cut off? Especially check the ones around the Ethernet ports.

Just to clarify here...

The constants in this motherboard swap I did, were the PSU, GPU, HDD's, and my USB/firewire peripherals.

My system continues to lock up (usually when I have something fullscreened on each monitor).

Could this be GPU related?

Why in the world would just the Ethernet ports be knocked out on two completely different motherboard/cpus.

If I need to, I'll get a new Mobo or PSU, but I don't wanna get something I don't need.

Used a different backplate for the new mobo and it did not have the break off pins.

maybe there is a wiring problem with your ethernet, you know like part of the cable gets exposed and shorted, shorts out your system.
