I know its not really important, but i just passed my CompTIA Network+ today. Received a 807/900 with the line being 720. Just felt like posting this since ive been working hard the last couple months studying for it.

Currently have my A+ and Net+ now. Linux+ is next.

Congratulations. I just graduated with a BS in computer science, about to start studying for the A+ though I took a practice exam and it was pretty easy. After that I think I'm gonna go for Security+ as well.

Can you recommend some good study materials?

A+ book by CompTIA is written for you to understand and pass. The new edition is very well written for the new exam (two parts 701/702 if I remember correctly).

Btw with that type of degree wouldn't you be going for a software engineering job?

The sys admin and IT dept. stuff is a little beneath that in terms of salary. for what that's worth

Thanks everyone.

As to the above, I only have 1 semester left til i earn my Associates in Network Support Technology, along with getting my CCENT which is required to graduate.

As far as materials go, the CompTIA books are amazing, though heavy ready. So using that with VCE tests is what i did for the net+. A+ i went through a vocational school during high school and earned it then. And the recommended 9-12 months as a network tech is sound advice before taking the net+. I personally have no big network experience other then small troubleshooting. So it took a while to understand the stuff, and lots of the questions on the exam took me a while to answer.

Congrats. I'd suggest the LCIP-1 over the Linux+, but none the less. Congrats.
