Best GPU under 300 dollars?

Thread Starter
Hello!

I am buying a new pc in august and I was looking for the best GPU under 300 dollars I could buy.
Right now I have in mind the Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 2GB DDR5.
What do you think about it? It costs $264 bucks in Amazon.
Is there another gpu better than that for that money?

Thanks a lot!

No better GPUs except (maybe) some GTX 570s/HD 6970s from questionable brands. But get that 6950 and try to unlock it to a 6970, that's pretty much the best bang for the bucks.

Below 300$, HD 6950 is your only option. Fastest GPU at the price point.

From I hear, bang for buck nvidia>ati......Could be wrong, I'm not really a hardware guy. But I think unless you want to mine bitcoins, your best bet, on your budget is some nvidia card. I'd take a glander on the jewegg.....

I don't trust very much nvidia since their best gpu burns at full speed.
Which one do you recommend?

it's between the 560ti and the 6950 as they trade blows...

it comes down to what games you play and whether their more optimized for amd or nvidia

no they don't... it was primarily a bad batch of 570s and the 590 that does, and that's only if you disable the voltage limiter in the bios and overclock like a madman

So if I like ATI the HD6950 is my best choice right?

Open box 570 from newegg if you're in the states.
You're on the right track, a high-end 2gb 6950 is probably your best bet. That or GTX 560 Ti; Sapphire is a great brand for AMD, but MSI's Twin Frozr II models of either of these cards will perform great as well.
