symantic runs an apache server to filter email?

ok so i was rebooting the server at work and i noticed an apache server running. now we dont do any webhosting so i contacted my IT guy and he looked into it and said that symantic runs an apache server to filter emails with.

can anyone confirm or deny this. because an apache server, that neither I or my IT guy installed could be very bad.

correct Symantec. Predective text did me in there.
Op if its norton/symantec and its enterprise you got nothing to worry about. They been collecting and analyzing malware and exploits since the days of windows 3.1 when we updated Norton Av with about 3 floppies once weekly. Theyre one of the best enterprise solutions out there. So its safer as what one of the employees would run it like what did with HBGary the security firm who got humiliated by hackers
