Black Widow vs. Filco Ninja Tenkeyless

Thread Starter
So I bought my first mechanical keyboard last week, a Razer Black Widow. It's been great so far and I love the MX Blue switches that the board has. I mainly bought it because of its low price and its mechanical switches. I originally intended upon buying a Steelseries 6Gv2, but it was out of stock at Amazon at the time.

My question is: will the Filco Ninja Majestouch 2 Tenkeyless Tactile (MX Browns) really be worth an extra $65 over the Black Widow? I really like the MX Blues that it has, but it isn't the best for gaming, nor do I like the glossy plastic that surrounds it. I have no use for macros and I am interested in more than 2KRO, which the Razer supposedly has. Also, the typeface that Razer used on this keyboard is absolutely terrible.

The other option that I have is the Leopold tenkeyless with Browns. The Leopold is significantly cheaper than the Filco, but people say that it is not as well built.

I'm not really sure about what I should do.

Browns are commonly seen as the best middle ground for both typing and gaming.

Filcos supposedly have better build quality than the Leopold, plus more aftermarket keys are compatible with the former brand.

One of the best. Who else is of the best out of curiosity? I truly am curious.

Well IMO it's the best cherry mx keyboard you can get some people do like some of the Duckys better because of the engraved keycaps and not being as likely to wear.
Filco Das Ducky or Leopold you really can't go wrong but Filco sits up front.

I think he means the best with Cherry MX switches. Now Realforce is another good board but they only offer Topre switches and some might find the price a bit offensive. tongue.gif

I'm typing on a Realforce 87UB 55g uniform weight right now and there's nothing quite like it on the Cherry side. You'd have to try it for yourself to see whether or not it's worth $200+.

I have a BW and I just bought a ninja tenkeyless with browns. I don't know how you can stand the BW layout. I am not a fan of the key layout/size nor the macro keys on the left. I'll post a review and comparison with some keyboard porn later this week if you want to wait that long.

Hah, thanks. I'm pretty excited for it to come in. Also ordered a pair of S30's, an LFM-1, and a Onkyo RC-260. It's going to be a very fun weekend.
