Q: Why do you offer pre-order bonus items?

A: Because we believe in rewarding our core fanbase with special offers -- such as giving them the Back to Karkand expansion pack at no extra charge.
I'm a core fan, I can't afford to pre-order. What are you going to do for me then?

Pre-orders are the new way to get people to buy the game, I honestly have no issue with it even being exclusive if it doesn't unbalance the game. This is the age of digital distribution (DD) sales for PCs which is helping put PCs back in the limelight because retail sales just doesn't work anymore IMO. It is cheaper to buy PC games and you don't have to leave your house since there are so many DD sites these days. It is a way for the game to make more money instead of everyone waiting a few months for there to be a DD sale and you get some bonus weapons as a reward. If this helps push more PC buyers into ordering early, I am all for it as it only helps the PC market in the future and maybe just maybe there will be more developers/publishers that actually program for the PC first. This is my first pre-order in years, I can't wait for release date!

If you plan on buying the game, you can afford pre-ordering.

A pre-order just means you put up the money for the full price before it's released. It's not like you pay extra for a pre-order or need to sacrifice your first born.

Now, if you're one of those people trying to pinch every penny and grab this on a Steam Sale or something similar to that effect a week or so after release, too freaking bad.

Why are people complaining about EA giving away things for free to those customers who decide to pre-order.

I know I'll pre-order this as soon as it hits Steam. This is one of those games that I know I'll be playing either way.
Why don't you buy it through origin and give the devs all the money they can get? I already bought mine through origin, waiting for the preload if they are going to have one, the only two things in my origin list though are BFBC2 and BF3...

Q: How much does the Back to Karkand Expansion pack cost?
A: We have not yet announced a price. However, it will be included in the Limited Edition at no extra charge.
They probably shouldn't charge much for it seeing as it won't make too many PC players happy, and the 99.9% of console players have never played BF2

As long as they don't reserve anything serious and keep the content to little fun extras that have no real bearing on the game it doesn't bother me.

The retarded thing here of course is that all EA has to do is offer this DLC for sale for .99 cents and boom, now everyone is happy and they even get some more money out of it. Why don't they take this easy way out of the controversy?
That or make the items unlockable through normal leveling up. I'd be happy with that.

I can imagine the conversation with my friends

"hey, this game is cool. You were right. Hey, that's a nice gun, how'd I get that?"

"oh you can't you had to preorder to get that. No-one else can have it"

"oh, that's really lame"

"yeah, TELL me about it"

I know everyone is excited to pre-order this on steam but I thought the rumors were that it wont be on steam and only on Origin for digital copies? At least at release. Which means no pre-order bonuses on steam. If someone has a source to disprove this please post it.
