2 quick questions about asrock extreme4 p67

Thread Starter
Installing the mb now, ran into two issues:

If I put memory into slots 1 and 3 (blue) I have clearance issues with my cooler. Most boards recommend using 1 and 3, but if I use 2 and 4 (white) instead, will that work just as well? Gives me more clearance.

And 2... there's a sticker on the sata ports that says for fastest hard drive performance we recommend putting your boot drive on ports 0-5. Well, there are 4 SATA ports that read:

(blue)SATA2_4_5 (blue)SATA_2_3 (white)SATA3_0_1 (white) SATA3_m1_m2

I don't quite understand what it's telling me - just put all my hard drives on the first 3? What does SATA2 vs SATA3 mean? 3gb/s vs 6gb/s?

I have 3 sata hard drives and 1 sata dvd drive - what should go into what port?

Thanks.

I would put the ram where it fits best. You should not notice any difference.

The extreme4 has four SATA2(3gbps) and four SATA3(6gbps). For HDD and optical drives, you will not notice any difference at all between the two as an HDD can not come close to saturating SATA2 let alone SATA3, and an optical drive is way slower than an HDD, so again, I would connect to where it fits best.
