better gpu with no improvement ; (

probably wrong area but let me explain then pick your brains: )

so, about a year ago I bought a gateway gaming rig, it turned into a piece of crap rather fast and after shipping back to them 2 times at 60$ a time I decided to embark on building my own rig.
So drove to frys a couple hours from my home and got a cart full of goodies. I went home and with the help of youtube and some friends via ts3 built my current rig.
1156 i7 @860 @ 4ghz,hyper 212 cooler, evga p55 le mobo, evga sc gtx 570
corsair 80g ssd, 1.5tb 7200 data disk, thermalake 750w psu

well sorta : ) I started without ssd and with a reference radion 5850 card, I actually just replaced the gpu yesterday : ))

I was very impressed with the evga mobo so when I decided to up my video card I went back with evga, I got the 1572 ar card. I hate to say it but I really haven't seen an improvement over my 5850.
Should I be seeing improvements? I'm going from a 175$ card to a 369$ card.
Also I have a pny gts 250 in my old box that will soon be replaced with the old 5850, Is it possible to use this old card as physx engine>? Is it worth the effort? I mainly just play Eve online, Its an old game with very low pre reqs to play. The building of the computer is as much of a hobby as the game i think.
So I have ran a few test and I will post below, not sure if this is helpful but here we go.

So you replaced the 5850 with a 570?
Have you tried OC'ing the 570 at all?
Well if you're playing older games you won't see much improvement going from good hardware to better hardware. I have an i3 540 and between 3.8 and 4.2GHz in CS:S I see almost no improvement.

It's all down to how graphically demanding the games you're running are.

As for the 250 as a physX card, I wouldn't bother unless you're playing titles that use PhysX and I think it needs hacked drivers to work so it's not worth the hassle in my opinion.

yes the 570 comes with a mild oc + I put about 10% more, no voltage change though.

Don't need you blowing your VRM's anyways with adding more voltage.
But then again, I don't think that was the problem. I think it was turning off the OVP.

Like someone said above, you won't really see that much improvement in older games. Where you will start to see your hardware shine is in newer games.

Time to hit up Steam deals etc

also I may have detonated the 120mm fan that came stock on the hyper 212 cooler, ~that dry nitrogen was not the best ideal I ever had ; (

That said even with 4.0 ghz o/c my cpu runs 50 c max, normally closer to 40-41c should I be bothering with h20 coolers? I was think about the corsair 90.

I doubt you detonated the fan if you're getting that good of temps on load.
TBH. I wouldn't waste my money on the H50/H70. I would spend that hard earned money on a good high end air cooler that will out perform a closed loop system like the H50.

NH-D14 from Noctua would be my pick.
