6950 temps

Thread Starter
Hey, I am looking for some advise and/or answers

I flashed my 6950>6070 the day it arrived, I had no real problems but the fan profile going crazy because the high temps.

I have since flashed back to 6950 bios with unlocked shaders and did the reg hack to up my sliders in CCC.

I am idling at 60C(2d), and hitting 90C full load. this seams really hot to me.

My case is cool, MB is sitting at a cool 21C, CPU@50-55C OC@4.8.

I have pulled the cooler off to reapply TIM but to no avail.. maybe shaved 1-2C off.

Is it normal for this card to be so hot? Do I have a dud cooler and should peruse after market route?

Thanks

Use MSI's Afterburner and create a custom fan profile.

Also, are you running dual monitors with different resolutions? This would cause your idle temps to be higher than normal.

Is this with a shader unlock or a full flash?

Mine hit 83 on the stock fan profile....making the fan curve more aggressive solved the problem for me, although it was more noisy.

yes, 2 monitors different res. If I replace second monitor with same rez as main will this help?

Would this also affect my 90C loaded temps?

Cranking the fan is not the best solution as this puppy is loud, but i suppose a more aggressive curve might help the ramp up/down on the CCC profile.

I believe if they are the same resolution, your clocks will be able to idle down further.

It will not affect your Load temps.

I have mine set to 40% fan idle as I can't hear it over anything else I do.

55% fan at 75 degrees.

65% fan at 85 degrees

100% fan at 95 degrees.

That's my curve and it works great.

Any suggestions for bringing the load temps down? besides firing up the jet engine...

These temps seam really high to what others are running and im thinking its a bad/hot card.

ok this has me worried/frustrated.

I unhooked second monitor, stock clocks, unlocked shaders, -20% power and set fan to 100% in CCC on manual, 40C idle is the lowest this thing will go... something has to be wrong?

help

Does your case have a side fan on it?

Are your cables hidden? Cables could be blocking airflow.

I have 2 cards in a HAF X with excellent airflow in a pretty cool room. ~72F.

My main card goes down to 38c at 100% fan and my secondary card gets to 35c also at 100% fan.

I see nothing wrong with 40%c.
