Even tried IDE mode, but still the same; monitor kill.
Needs to be set to RAID, that is if you're running raid.

Was too slow on the edit not running raid anymore.
The screen, being a little more specific here, goes to the "starting windows" screen, where the logo and the fireflys surrounding are aroun it flying, then it cuts off there. In ahci.

Dont know if this will help, but maybe try to change your video out put. If your card has more than one dvi try using the other, or even the hdmi.

btw, what output are you using currently? dvi or hdmi?

also check your device manager for any hardware conflicts.

edit: as a last resort, a clean install of windows might be in order.

But boots in safe mode.
I'd say your card or NV drivers.
Try installing a different driver while in safemode, last good one you used.

That doesn't work, maybe run checkdisk and memtest.

First reseat your card, make sure all connectors a firmly attached.

I switched my DVI port to another, took out my battery and flushed the system's power to default everything, then tried again and nothing. Also, DVI cable. No conversions or anything.

No conflicts in Device Manager.

I'd usually reinstall, but it would be an akward time for me to do that now, so I'm not really up for that option right now. But if I have no other options I'll do that.

Also, slightly after I was having this problem I completely took apart my computer and cleaned it all out, then put it together again. I double-checked my plugins and everything is good. I've just installed the latest Nvidia Drivers (275.33) right now, in safe mode, and I'll see if that helps. I selected clean install too so we will see if that helps. If not, I have some 258.96, 260.63 and 266.58 to test as well. I'll report back.

If you use a bootable partition manager you can shrink your current install partition and install on a new one. From there you can go back into your old partition and recover the data. But that's if the problem isn't hardware related. Just a thought.

Well downgrading the video drivers didn't help any. Same crash, same place. I'm running memtest right Noe. Will be awhile for the 8gb ram though.

And it's not file backup that is the problem. Everything is already set up and perfect is all I have a few TBs laying around still.

When did the problem start happening?

Now that I think about it, when I was trying to encode some DVD's I was backing up. I cant remember if it resulted in BSODs or Black-screens like these, but I know it was one of the two and it kept happening. After getting DVD Decryptor and Handbrake. But those aren't loaded on startup, so those shouldn't be affecting this, should they? I think this is a file corruption problem then.

Also, ran memtest and nothing popped up. Put in a friends GT240 (doesn't need additional power cables) and still got the same error. I'm probably just going to do a reinstall tomorrow afternoon. So if anyone has any other ideas until then, lemme know.

Hi

I had this issue of the pc screen just switch over to black or a different colour when windows start or while watching. There's no BSOD no dump check windows freezes. Doesn't matter what drivers I loaded and how I cleaned it. Basically the pc run a couple of months without a display driver. So I played around with RKU and discovered WATCHDOG.SYS being hooked. After looking around I discovered this
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff553890.aspx

Now my the old gpu in it was a 8400 gs. And when I went to the reg entry low and behold I found watchdog still debugging the nvidia card that was removed months ago.

This is what to do. Its the fix for the annoying pc don't come out of standby thing as well

The ways to do this are to edit the registry, for example using regedit.exe, and then browse to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Con trol\\Watchdog\\Display\\

where
to disable the timer it is possible to add a new DWORD key named “ DisableBugCheck â€, with the value
1. Put the value at 0 to go back to normal. I did NOT enable this potential solution… yet;
to control the tolerable thread delay, add a new DWORD key named “ BreakPointDelay â€, with the value of x where x * 10 seconds computes the limit. I configured my system for delays up to 30 seconds, so this key’s value is set to 3.
