Crucial SSD 128GB - different speeds/versions?

Thread Starter
I just bought a Crucial C300 128GB model and I think I may have made a mistake after looking at this: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/194?vs=381

Apparently there are two versions? One has 6gb/s next to it and one doesn't. Does this mean that there are two versions of this drive out there, or is this somehow related to a firmware upgrade, or something?

No, I would assume they are testing it in either a SATA 2 (3gbps) port, or SATA 3 (6gbps) port, hence the difference. To my knowledge there is only one C300, and it's 6gbps, but of course it is backwards compatible if you do not have a SATA 3 port available on your motherboard.

There are actually 2 ports on the drive? This is my first SSD so I'm confused, but my mobo does have a sata 3 port so I'm good.

No there is one port, you can either plug it into a SATA 3 or SATA 2 port on your board. Also what board do you have? If it's a 3rd party controller like Marvel, then it's actually usually slower for Random and you also lose TRIM support. So unless you have an 1155 board, I would run it in your native SATA 2 port.

Yea you're good. Just use the native Intel SATA 3 ports and not the 3rd party one.

This. You have two Intel SATA III ports and two Marvell SATA III ports. The inner white ones are the Intel ports. Use one of them. Then fasten your safety belts and hold on tight.
