The point is the OP is looking to basically spend $2000+ over the next 2 years on a phone. "Not bad" isn't quite good enough. The Atrix's screen is sub-par compared to most other phones on the market. Not just the iPhone's.
Add on to that Motorola's pig-headedness when it comes to unlocking/rooting and the only reason I can see to grab an Atrix is if you want the laptop dock thing or you have an unhealthy fascination with Motoblur.
I own an Atrix at this moment. It is rooted and running a rom. The Atrix is by no means just some gimmick phone with a laptop dock. If that is what you are trying to sell it as then you might want to actually use one for a period of time before you form such strong opinions about it.
The speed is very impressive and it might not have the best screen on the market, but it is certainly not terrible.
The Atrix regularly tops benchmark tests. Categorically declaring dual cores as "useless" is subjective. I have had it since launch and I have never had any lag or slowdown and programs install lightning fast. Switching between tasks is seamless and silky.
The phone can run a little hot, but the battery life is phenomenal. I'd also like to mention that the finger print scanner is an inspired way to unlock your phone. I thought I would not like it, but I have really found it to be a great.Edited by Solarin - 6/17/11 at 12:09am
