Project Firestorm: A HAF932 Mod

Project Firestorm

Introduction
Hello OCN! I am very new to this forum, and this is only my third thread ever. I have used this site regularly whenever I have computer questions or need some advice. I apologize if I do something wrong, just tell me and i'll try to fix it! Also, I am rather inexperienced and new to this whole modding thing, so bear with me and please don't hesitate to offer ideas. But enough about me. On to Project Firestorm.

Background
Ever since I bought my first computer, a gateway DX Series Desktop PC, I dreamed of building my own rig which looked great and performed even greater. Unfortunately, when you're 16 and jobless it is sort of difficult to support this very expensive hobby. My solution is was to slowly build up and upgrade the components in my computer one at a time, when I had the extra money. A year or so ago, I purchased the Cooler Master HAF 932 Case, along with some other parts, and started the upgrade process. This is a great case, but it is just dying to be painted and modded a little. I now finally have the courage wink.gif and the time, so here the project begins! Hopefully you will all enjoy watching me make some progress.

Plans/Preparation
  1. Paint the main parts of the case black (get rid of that grey!)
  2. Accent the black with certain parts painted red
  3. Install lighting (LED, cold cathode, etc.)
  4. Cable Management!
  5. Better cooling and performance
  6. Maybe add some BETTER components smile.gif

Table of Contents
  1. Before Pics
  2. Painting front grills red
  3. Painting left side panel
  4. Painting right side panel
  5. Side panels finished

Front grills painted red

To do this, I first bent back the little piece of mesh that hold the grill to the plastic border, then took off the grills. Next I used Rust-oleum metal primer to prime them twice, and Rustoleum cherry red spraypaint for the two topcoats. Ten minutes in between primer coats, 45 minutes, then ten in between paint coats. The front bezel grill is as simple as four little screws and some more painting.

First grill was an extra I used to test my painting ablilties

Painting the left side panel

Hey guys, time for another update. Last night and this morning I worked on painting the left side panel. I wanted to paint the inside black, and the raised area with the grill for the fan intake red, I thought it would accent well. First I taped up everything I didn't want painted, painted the inside black, and let it dry overnight. This morning I painted the red part, waiting for it to dry as we speak.

I think I will be doing the right side panel next, and then maybe I will de-rivet the whole thing and paint the insides. Oh man I am so scared I am going to mess it up, but hopefully i'll get it right.
