Palit GTX 570 Sonic or Sonic Platinum?

Thread Starter
I am looking to buy one of these cards. The Palit GTX 570 Sonic:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814261096

Or the Sonic Platinum:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814261097

My first question is: Do these cards have the bad PCB boards? Bad Vram?

And are the cards exactly the same - one is just overclocked?
If that is the case should I get the stock one and overclock it myself?

Any information would be appreciated!!

I know for sure that Palit GTX570 Sonic Platinum has a GREAT custom PCB with 6 Phase power managment for the GPU (4 Phase is reference)..

So no problem there with blown VRM's and it's a good card for OC..

haven't heard any palit cards blown up yet, so i guess their 6 phase vram is holding up well.

none of the two you listed has stock clocks, stock 732 vs sonic 750 vs platinum 800

i doubt palit bin their cards, so it doesn't matter if you get a sonic or platinum version, as there is no guarantee that the platinum version will clock further than sonic. the sonic version will have no problem getting to 800 clock, but if you want to clock either of the card beyond 850, it's really a matter of luck.

i'd say if you want to overclock, then go with the sonic. if you just want to plug and play, without having to load up a custom profile in afterburner before a game session, then get the platinum.

You should also consider the MSI GTX 570 Twin Frozr III and Asus GTX 570 DirectCu II. They both offer good coolers and custom PCB designs as well that won't explode when overclocking.

Lol he has considered every card under the sun from $200-$600+ over the past 4 days.

Asus Gtx 570 DCII or MSI Twin Frozr III
GTX 570 SLI - MSI Twin Frozr III or Asus DirectCU II
MSI Twin frozr iii gtx 570
GTX 570 or GTX 580 (Future SLI)
GTX 560 SLI or GTX 570 (Later SLI)
Which GTX 560TI i should buy?
Gtx 560ti sli
MSI GTX 570 TF3 or GTX 580 Lightning

Both Palit cards have custom PCBs and more VRMs for the core as far as I know, not just the platinum, but yes as mentioned the MSI TFIII or Asus DCII are better cards.

HAhaa sorry Juano - I just don't know which one to get... I am thinking about just getting the 580 Lightning and be done with it. But going to try to look for an open box one.

I would honestly just go for a GTX 570 TF3, I have one myself. At 1.08 volts I'm at 925mhz and it just chews through games. The cooler is great as well, never goes above 70c overclocked and is quiet to boot!
