I lol'd when I saw this, I use to own those found them the other day snapped in half in my closet lol I don't think I'd recommend those, poor build quality, audio quality is awful compared to headphones like the AD700's. The audio quality is OK, and not anything more, IMO, but compare it to cans you can have like the AD700's or even the RX700's and it's pretty bad.

Metal + FPS Gaming - for the win

I recommend the A700's if you can go a little over budget, I know you may dislike me for recommending over budget, but it's $119 right now from Amazon. I have heard that the bass is much better in the A700's than in the AD700's which will help for metal music, and the sacrifice of sound stage isn't to bad from what I have heard. I only need another $10 and I'll be purchasing these my self. Then another $25 for the Asus Xonar DG lol Oh and of course, another $12 for the Zalman Clip on Mic.

If you can't, at all, in anyway shape or form go $20 over budget for the A700's, then definitely stick with the AD700's, still a great choice. Or if you do more gaming than listening to music, then go with the AD700's.

I have tried ad 700s, razer megladons and g35. Every time the megladons came out on top with sound quality, and sound stage. I don't care what anyone says, that's why i got them all. If you have a sound card that's different.. but it defeats the purpose of the op "best headphones for around 100$". you will NOT see a significant difference going from g35s to the ad700s and the sound quality will suffer because you have no sound card. there is ZERO bass in the ad 700s and you are used to some alright bass in the g35s. the only plus is the ad700s have prolly somewhat of a better directional stage ( people walking upstairs and diagonal from you in a game). but other than that i would get the ads and a sound card or stick with the g35s.

You can't judge headphones based on bass quantity. The AD700 are awesome for the price and have sufficient bass imo.
Also, when playing fps it's better not to have too much bass because it actually makes it harder to hear directional sounds.

I use roccat Kava's they are really good, can't fault them. Don't know how much they cost where you are but i guess it will be about $100

Well yeah.. USB headsets have their own specialized audio processors, which generally beat onboard. However, add a $25 Xonar DG and the AD700 destroys the G35/Mega. I've owned the G35 and the Megalodon, and while the 7.1 can be cool for Blu-Ray movies, it's far from necessary in gaming audio. Music is just bleh. OP, I highly recommend getting a Xonar DG for $25 and the best headphone in your remaining budget. If you can get the AD700 get that, if not get the RX700s.

What about the current sound card I have? Is that not good enough?

is that xtreme audio or xtreme music?

If its xtreme audio, its just a rebranded SB audigy.

That being said, it will be fine for the AD700.
