Why do people setup surround/eyefinity,sli or crossfire cards, yet use crappy tn panel

Thread Starter
Using a tn panel is like using intel celeron cpu or nvidia geforce 210 gpu, they are that bad. They are the lowest of the low - you cant buy worse monitor then monitor with a tn panel.
Yet I see people with high end system with sandy bridge cpu and sli or crossfire setups gaming on tn monitors.
If you have the money for high end system,I am sure you could spare 100-200$ more for a decent monitor.
Is that the most important thing in the pc,afterall ? That is what you look at.What's the point of having a great gpu setup when you can't see what's beeing rendered properly ?
Difference in picture quality between an tn panel and ips or pva panel is enormous. If you don't belive me,check out the reviews on the internet.
And no,those panels are not slower at all when it comes to gaming. For some reason, ghosting time on tn panels are inflated. There is lot of reviews comparing ips panels vs tn when it comes to speed, and usually 8ms ips panel is as fast as 2ms tn panel.
And people who actually buy 3 or more of these monitors and set up them in surround / eyefinity ? And they think that's cool ? Having 3 crappy monitors instead of just one ? LOL.
Seriosly, people should just stop buying tn monitors all together. When manufactureres see there is no more demand for their crap, they will start focusing more on more quality panels, and they will become even more faster, better and more affordable.

Probably because it's cheaper to get three monitors that way? They may be worse quality, but they're also cheaper. There's more than just Black and White.

These type of threads come along once in a while, and the consensus generally seems to be "different people have different balance priorities". That's what it comes down to. Some may say "if you're spending that much, surely you could get a better monitor", but then you're saying that about speakers, headphones, desks, chairs, sound cards, SSDs, etc., etc., etc. It isn't just the best of everything, or the worst of everything. There's so many combinations/balances, and this is just one example. Different balance priorities and such.

Aperture grille CRT is equivalent / better.

Anyhow. I understand how people want eyefinity or surround over IPS, since both have benefits. But I do not understand people who spend 1000 dollars or more on GPUs, yet use a crappy panel. On that, I agree with you. It's absolutely idiotic to do that. What's use maxing your graphics if you view them through a mediocre display? Fighting against your own goals there. Some different budgeting I coudl understand, such as 1500 dollars of audio gear with a 100 dollar display. But not what these people do.

Compare the price if an IPS eyefinity set up, and a regular tn set up.

Also, check otu gaming on an IPS. Not great.

Look at things from both sides, sure IPS panels look better, but do they perform just as well or better in gaming?

Immersive gaming and a nice cheap budget.

Well, consider a person who does not care for the extra quality of IPS. To them, a TN panel is fine.

Also, more expense towards GPUs means more frames and/or higher settings. You don't have have an IPS or whatever to benefit from that.

Though arguable, a higher quality display with (for example) 2x AA would look much better than a lower quality display with 16xAA, and both would be achievable on the same budget. Here, I argue that the advantage of IPS would be greater than the advantage you get with more GPU power that could max more settings.

Because it's cheaper. If it was ME, I'd pick up a single 27"/30" IPS, forget about Eyefinity/Surround till better monitors are released.

Which ever monitor I using has nothing to do for the reasons of my Sec GTX 460 that I didn't buy my self any way.I not gonna try to force my self to save for a ips monitor just to please you. Not all TN monitors are bad, there are some really good TN monitors out there.

Better idea how about you go buy us all IPS monitors then back your truck up into the lot. Then pass the boxes around to every one. If not then go back under your bridge and stay there.

Before you say it, no it took me a long while since I had to either sell what I had to get parts in my computer or save up or get lucky.I def didnt buy every thing at once.
